Preface
Here, in this work, some of the outstanding and important happenings in the life-span of Imam Khomeini, from birth to ascension, are outlined briefly but analytically. Although describing the dimensions of Imam Khomeini's personality and explaining the periods of the life history of such a grandee in a single essay or book volume, is like pouring and infinite sea water into a single Jar, but we should try so far as possible, especially, for the reason that, the lovers of Imam Khomeini in other countries, have repeatedly asked for a compendium covering the ideals, the works and the notable events in the life of His Holiness, to benefit from. For the same reason we have abstained from giving detailed accounts on each event, producing each document or conveying every quotation, except where deemed necessary to do so; and at the same time we have tried, however brief and quick it may be, to refer to any event related to Imam Khomeini or provided favorable grounds for his uprising and also to his positioning vis-a-vis critical situations.
While explaining the process of events in the life of Imam Khomeini, emphasis has been laid on genuineness of thought, priority of purfication over knowledge and the influence of Imam Khomeini's own spiritual and scientific characteristics throughout the course of his life and campaign.
The unity of Imam Khomeini's personality and the comprehensiveness and solidity of his school of thought, he, who accounted for his uprising and the Islamic Revolution far beyond dealing with problems and reforms in a single country or community, calls for a thorough recognition of such a grandee in the wholesomeness of his beliefs, his faithfulness and his conduct, in various periods of his life, rather than studying a certain profile or dimension of his personality; and this essay is but a short and quick look at a man of unequalled dignity and broadness, as such.
We make every endeavor to produce our conclusions from the events, and our analysis of people's positioning and of the political and ideal trends, in accordance with the criteria and guidelines shown by His Holiness, Imam Khomeini. However, this work is not free from errors and mistakes. Therefore our dear readers and historians acquainted with the life and ideals of, and devoted to Imam Khomeini, are requested to point out any insufficiencies and, possibly, errors that they might come across with.
