The Israelis had at that time completed the work needed to enable them to divert some of the waters of the river Jordan, which runs through Syria, Occupied Palestine and Jordan, to irrigate the Negev Desert. Maryland. These accords constituted the greatest act of betrayal to be carried out in the Wake of the bloody and heavy battles between the Arabs and Israel and the first step towards Compromise. So greatly offended were the sensibilities of the Arab nations by the move that Egypt was expelled from Arab circles. In the early days of the victory of the Islamic revolution, a revolution which had given self-confidence, a fighting spirit and a new aggressiveness to the Islamic nations, while at the same time weakening the position of Israel and its supporters, this great act of betrayal led to Sadat's assassination (October
1981) at the hands of a number of soldiers who were supporters of the Islamic revolution. A few years later, however, the compromising Arab governments, on conciliatory grounds, once more welcomed Egypt back to the fold.

1 - Israeli withdrawal from all occupied territories including the Arab section of Beit ul Moqaddas.
The rights of the Palestinians who do not wish to return to their homeland are to be guaranteed by recompensing their losses.
3 - Guaranteeing the right of all countries in the region to live in peace with one another.
These were just some of the points contained in the plan. The third point was seen by many
Politicians as being a cunning, implicit recognition of Israel's existence and provoked
Opposition from the radicat Arab flank.

In addition to trying to detract from the genuineness of the uprising, they wanted to create an excuse to carry on an angry struggle against the Islamists. Bearing in mind that international public opinion could not accept all the repression brought about by the Zionists, this kind of propaganda gave the Israelis some justification for suppressing the intifada. Now they could say to the westerners: 'If we don't quash this uprising, Palestine, the gate to Europe, will become a base for the development of Islamic fundamentalism and the tragedy of Spain will be repeated.' In this way America and Israel could alarm Europeans with the prospect of a dangerous neighbour with fundamentalist bases, and thus facilitate their attempts to quash the Palestinian uprising.

Also Munir Shafiq says: The Palestinian issue is an Islamic issue and this is not contradictory to patriotism and Arabism, and because the Palestinian issue is fundamentally an Islamic issue, a remedy should be sought accordingly. The Palestinian issue has become the focus of the battle and disagreements between the Islamic urnina and its enemies, as it is at the centre of the plans of our enemies, namely the Zionists and western imperialists. For this reason, it is impossible for the uprising of the nation to occur, its independence its unity and the raising of the flag of La ilaha illa 'halt (there is no god but God) to be materialised as long as the Palestinian issue is not a central part in the Islamic strategy of all the Islamic countries. Same source, p. 109.
